History: Alex Song began his career in 2003 with Bastia, the young budding defensive midfielder played a year as a youth before being called up to play for the first team of Bastia in 2004 in his only season at the club he played 32 games before in 2005 being loaned out to Arsenal thought he only made 5 appearances he made a big impression and earned himself a move to the club at the end of the 05-06 season and since has gone on to play another 68 games scoring twice. During 2007 he was out on loan to Charlton Athletic playing 12 games. Internationally he began with the France U-16’s in 2002 playing 6 games before in 2003 being called up to the Cameroon U17’s playing 3 games. 2003 brought U23’s action for the young midfielder playing 3 games, before later that year earning his full Cameroon debut going on to play 19 games.
Personal Information: Song’s father past away when he was just three and his cousin and also famous footballer Rigobert Song acted as his father while he was growing up, and was the main influence to Song choosing to play football for his career. Aged 18 in 2005 he got married and is the father of two young children the older age 2 and the youngest just 11 months.

Sky Sports: Good Evening Alex thanks for joining us.
Alex Song: Thanks for having me it’s a pleasure to be here.
SS: First question what do you think to new manager Kels Barkworth?
AS: Well I don’t know her yet but I’ve heard good things I think we have every chance of doing well under her guidance and look forward to working with her.
SS: Are you looking forward to playing football in the new season, and who’s your desired partner in Centre Midfield?
AS: I am looking forward to the new season, Yes. As for who I would prefer to play along side if the manager starts me I would say Cesc as were good mates but I wouldn’t mind him or Abou as both are top players.
SS: Having been brought up by your Cousin how has it affected you career?
AS: It hasn’t my career began thanks to my cousin Rigo, he’s a legend and thanks to him I am making a decent amount to provide for my children and give them things I never had as a child.
